Party Lights Pattern
Fabric Requirements For Class
This is a great STASH BUSTING pattern!
1 fat quarter or quarter yard of Feature Fabric (see below for description). Choose this first.
2 ¾ yards TOTAL of a variety of light, medium, and dark colors and prints that match the Feature Fabric. Party Lights cover quilt used 24 different color prints! Lora was using fabrics from her stash. You can use more or less. If you’re purchasing fabrics instead of pulling from your stash, consider a Layer Cake as a starting point or select eighteen 1/6 yard cuts or eighteen fat eighths of matching colors to the Feature Fabric. (A Layer Cake is 2 ¾ yards total fabric, but you may need additional fabrics due cutting waste.)
4 ¾ yards TOTAL of background fabric if using one fabric
OR if you prefer scrappy, select
2 yards for the blocks
1 ¼ yards for sashing
1 ½ yards for setting triangles
½ yard for binding
5 yards for backing
What is a Feature Fabric?: The Feature Fabric is the focal fabric and the fabric that bridges all the other colors together. This fabric should have several colors. Choose this fabric first and then match all the other fabrics to your Feature Fabric. The Feature Fabric is the 3 1/2” center square in all 18 blocks (unfinished size). Large prints might not be as successful…depends on fabric line.
You sure don’t need to find ALL your fabrics before class! We’d be happy to help you with your fabrics at the shop.
