Beginning Quilting





You’ll discover a wealth of quilting tips for new quilters, including quilting terms and supplies, fabric, rotary cutting, seam allowances, how to choose fabric and prints and understand fabric grain. At the end of two sessions you will have pieced your first quilt.  You CAN make this!

Framed Charms pattern

For Baby Quilt:  

1 charm pack or 32 assorted 5" squares
1 1/2 yards white background
2/3 yard gray frame fabric
1/2 yard binding
2 1/8 yards backing

For Lap Size Quilt: 
2 charm packs or 50 assorted 5" squares
2 1/2 yards white background
1 1/3 yard gray frame fabric
3/8 yard binding
       Backing

Pre requisites:   Press all fabric prior to class. Do not prewash.

   Basic sewing supplies

    sewing machine with a 1/4" foot (recommended)
    sewing machine manual
    thread
    sewing machine needles
    scissors
    seam ripper
    pins

   Rotary Cutting equipment:
   rotary cutter
   rotary ruler (6"x 12" or 6 x 24" )  Bring what you have, we have some to use top
   small rotary cutting mat  (we have mats to borrow)
